The General Assembly,

Affiliated with the General Assembly, Church of the Living God, P. G. T. which is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Presiding Bishop C. C. Berry, Jr. PRELATE.

The church began almost nine decades ago in a little  community (outside the city limits of Tyler) called, "Fairview" (as a matter of fact, many older people  knew that same area as  the "Need Mo" Community). Brush Arbor, tent revivals and various programs initiated growth and the congregation eventually moved to town and began worship in a store of one of the members.

Faithful members began talk of building a church. They began to bring nails, lumber and anything else they had and/or could get their hands on  (literally)  that would be useful in erecting a building. They eventually constructed a church at 800 W. Cochran.

The Cochran location  is where the body began to flourish and grow by leaps and bounds. Notable, Holy Ghost preaching, hand clappin, toe tappin music and good singing embellished every service and word got around the entire east Texas area we were "on the move". Revivals, musicals, conventions, plate lunch dinners, dinner on the ground, fish dinners, chicken dinners,  cake walks, teas, pageants, car drives, picnics, rallies and various other programs and events set an atmosphere for worship.

In 1968 another church in a new location (current structure) was erected. Members fondly recall having a 30 year note , yet burning the note in 8 years. "We have come this far by faith".

MISSION
Until the return of Christ,
We vow to faithfully and diligently serve Him,
Each Other, and the Community around us.
